जीपीएटी मास्टर ऑफ फार्मेसी (एम. फार्म) पाठ्यक्रम में प्रवेश के इच्छुक योग्य उम्मीदवारों को छात्रवृत्ति प्रदान करने के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय स्तर की परीक्षा है। पहला जीपीएटी वर्ष 2010 में आयोजित किया गया था और उसके बाद यह 2018 तक हर साल शिक्षा मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के निर्देशों के अनुसार अखिल भारतीय तकनीकी शिक्षा परिषद (AICTE) द्वारा आयोजित किया गया था और वर्ष 2019 से 2023 तक शिक्षा मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के निर्देशों के अनुसार राष्ट्रीय परीक्षण एजेंसी (एनटीए) के माध्यम से परीक्षा आयोजित की गई है। फार्मेसी काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया ने माननीय सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के दिनांक 05.03.2020 के फैसले का सम्मान करते हुए जीपीएटी आयोजित करने और छात्रवृत्ति के वितरण की पहल की है। आदेश में कहा गया है कि "सामान्य तकनीकी शिक्षा को नियंत्रित करने वाले एआईसीटीई अधिनियम को उसके अधिदेश से 'फार्मेसी' को हटाकर संशोधित किया जाएगा और उसके बाद फार्मेसी शिक्षा फार्मेसी अधिनियम, 1948 द्वारा शासित होगी"।GPAT is a national level examination for awarding scholarships to qualified candidates seeking entry into the Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) course. The first GPAT was conducted in the year 2010 and thereafter it was conducted every year till 2018 by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as per the directions of Ministry of Education, Government of India and from the year 2019, the examination is conducted through the National Testing Agency (NTA) as per the directions of Ministry of Education, Government of India to till 2023. The Pharmacy Council of India has taken the initiative to conduct the GPAT and disbursement of scholarship honoring the Judgement of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India of dated 05.03.2020 stating that "AICTE Act, governing the general technical education would be amended deleting ‘pharmacy’ from its mandate and the pharmacy education would thereafter be governed by the Pharmacy Act, 1948".

फार्मेसी काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया ने जीपीएटी आयोजित करने के लिए नेशनल बोर्ड ऑफ एग्जामिनेशन इन मेडिकल साइंसेज के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। The Pharmacy Council of India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences for conducting the GPAT.
